Very few people know the Stained Glass industry like Frank Debrincat does.

Frank's enthusiasm for leadlight has never wavered since his first introduction in high school at Catholic Regional College, where he was shown the craft by his science teacher Len Gatt.

Frank founded a small leadlighting business that grew into a full manufacturing operation, employing his family and some sixty employees. The focus at the time was the production of leadlight panels for doors and furniture. Even with the demands of running a thriving business, Frank continued to design leadlight windows for new homes. He was also asked to supervise the restoration of many priceless leadlight panels situated in traditional heritage buildings throughout Victoria.

With the influx of cheap, mass-produced Chinese panels into the Australian door and furniture market, Frank was forced to rethink his business direction. When many others in his place would have simply given up and walked away, Frank saw an opportunity to move into the supply side of the Art Glass industry and founded the Stained Glass Shed. His new business venture is now supplying glass art materials to professionals and hobbyist alike, nationwide.

After years of involvement in the Art Glass industry at all levels Frank is acutely aware of the challenges facing the industry today. With this in mind he has set himself the goal of working towards helping to create a stronger industry in Australia. This includes teaching, creating a one-stop sourcing centre for the glass artist, publishing easy-to-follow guidebooks and informative catalogues.
